From 2015-2017, I worked as a main writer for the Ash Hill Academy Newsletter. I was in sixth form and it was my work experience. My main role included collecting news from the local area, writing articles and editing them for the public to read.
Skills Learnt From this role
Communication
My communication skills increased greatly when I had to interview people about local stories in the area. I spoke to people that I wouldn't normally communicate with. This helped my confidence a lot.
Article Writing
Before this role, I didn't have much experience with article writing. But I learned all about statistics, implementing facts into your article and how professional an article needs to sound.
Editing
The editing part of the role also helped me a great deal. I learned how to edit my own writing effectively by correcting spelling errors and changing things to make it sound better.
